The Bosniak Club in the Council of Peoples of the RS did not veto

The Bosniak caucus in the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska has not reached a consensus on initiating the vital national interest mechanism for the election of the RS Government, which is why the decision adopted in the RS National Assembly can enter into force.

The President of the Bosniak caucus in the Council of Peoples, Alija Tabaković, says that four delegates were in favor of initiating the mechanism for the protection of vital national interest, three were against, and one delegate abstained.

“Bosniak delegates from Serbian political parties were against initiating the mechanism, and delegate Dževad Mahmutović abstained,” said Tabaković.

The delegates who requested the initiation of the mechanism for the protection of vital national interest believe that the acting President of the RS could not have given a mandate for the composition of the RS Government because “the RS Constitution only recognizes the category of the President of the RS”.

The RS National Assembly elected the new RS Government headed by Savo Minić on Sunday, January 18, after previously accepting his resignation.

Decisions on the resignation and election of a new government, headed by the same prime minister, were made just a few days before the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ruling on the request for constitutional review of the election of the Government of the RS headed by Savo Minić, who was entrusted with the mandate by Milorad Dodik after the final verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the prohibition of holding public functions for the next six years.

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expressing its opinion on this today at the plenary session.
