Azra Dramalija, candidate of the Coalition Drzava for the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) Parliament, boasted on her Facebook profile that she hit a dog with an umbrella. Her announcement caused strong reactions from the public.

“How do you prevent a dog from sleeping in pots? Does anyone have any ideas, some tried-and-tested folk remedy? I did, however, use an umbrella today and tap it over it’s back (while itwas sleeping). I sincerely hope it will remember the lesson,” Dramalija boasted.

“Now the ‘animal lovers’ will comment, I ask why it is normal for them to have packs of cats on the streets,” she concluded her post with attached photos of flower pots in front of the building.

Her announcement was met with harsh criticism from the public as well as associations that take care for abandoned animals.

The announcement about her act was published on the official website of the Coalition Drzava.

Respected, considering that citizens are contacting us after the post of Azra Dramalija, a candidate from our list, we would like to inform you that we disassociate ourselves from her post and any violence against animals. In accordance with the principles of the Coalition Drzava, our Ethics Commission will investigate the case and bring appropriate recommendation on possible sanctions. We apologize to everyone who was shaken by her post. Thank you to everyone who warned us about that case. We thank you for your understanding. The Coalition Drzava,” they said.
