The Collapse of the IT System affected 8.5 Million Devices

A global problem related to the update of the Internet security company CrowdStrike has affected almost 8.5 million devices running the operating system of the technology giant Microsoft, it was announced in a blog of the company.

“According to our current estimates, the CrowdStrike update affected 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than one percent of all machines running this operating system. Although the percentage is small, the extensive economic and social impact illustrates the critical nature of the use of CrowdStrike in enterprises” , it is emphasized in the announcement.

An update to US company CrowdStrike’s security program caused problems in a number of systems, causing flights to be grounded, broadcasters to cut programs and users to lose service in a variety of sectors, including healthcare and banking.

Microsoft points out that CrowdStrike helped develop a solution that will help the Azure infrastructure to speed up the repair of its cloud system.

CrowdStrike has released information about the repair of the affected systems, but experts believe that it will take some time to normalize operations, since the offending code must be manually removed.

The problems appeared immediately after the disputed update was implemented and users posted photos on social media of computers with “blue screens” written on them as a malfunction.

It is not known how the faulty code got into the update and why it was not detected before it was released to users.
