“I am proud of the successes we have achieved together and our continued commitment to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina,“ said the commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela L. McGaha, who is nearing the end of her mandate.
McGaha is in meetings with the managers of the partner B&H. institution, the Ministry of Defense of BiH, the Joint Commission for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and the Ministry of Security of BiH, thanked for the excellent cooperation during her mandate, as well as for their continuous and daily commitment to the improvement of the defense and security infrastructure in BiH, which, she stated, will in finality, to benefit all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She emphasized a number of successful results achieved jointly over the past two years, including the excellent assessment of the Light Infantry Battalion Group of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022 as capable of operating in accordance with NATO standards.
She also highlighted numerous brave members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina who responded to the call to provide assistance to the Allies in an emergency situation after the devastating natural disasters in Turkey and Slovenia.
General McGaha also referred to numerous situations of multi-agency response to floods and forest fires in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of saving lives with the support of the NATO-funded Incident Management Command System (NICS). She emphasized their continuous support to BiH in the context of the “Women, Peace and Security” initiative, as well as the partnership of BiH and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, including the prestigious Rose-Roth seminar hosted by BiH last year.
The meetings were also an opportunity to introduce the new commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew A. Valas, who will assume the duties of commander tomorrow at the ceremonial handover of command that will be held in the House of the Armed Forces, announced NATO Headquarters Sarajevo.
