The Construction of a New Parking Lot, or the Release of Part of an Existing One?

parkingFollowing complaints from the citizens of Dobrinja regarding the construction of a new parking lot, the Novi Grad Municipality decided to schedule a meeting in which the citizens will be able to give alternative suggestions.

The citizens of the Sarajevo neighborhood of Dobrinja prevented the start of the construction of a new parking lot today with their presence, however it has been said from the Municipality that there is a good reason for the construction of the disputed facility.

“Given the fact that there is a need for a small number of parking lots to be provided for the needs of visitors to the Bosnian market coming from other parts of the city, the Municipality had a plan to to build a small number of parking lots close to the market, whose construction would not substantially disturb the atmosphere of the neighborhood”, said the Municipality of Novi Grad.

However, they point out that they had received complaints from the citizens, which is the reason why a meeting with the local community of Dobrinja C was scheduled. At the meeting, a concrete proposal on how to come up with a solution will be given.

“The fact is that people who come from other parts of Sarajevo have nowhere to park their vehicles, although there is are number of parking lots near the Bosnian market that are taken by the residents of the nearby apartment buildings, even though they have their own parking lots in other locations”, the Municipality stated.

The Municipality sees two ways of solving the problem: the construction of new parking lots or the release of part of the existing ones.

”Unless new parking lots are built, a number of existing parking lots will have to be released for the visitors of the market, which are currently occupied by the citizens who live there despite having their parking lots nearby”, it was concluded from the Municipality.
