Work on the construction of a new Dog Shelter officially began in Praca yesterday, and the opening of the construction site was attended by the Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Nihad Uk, the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the CS Enda Pavic Pecenkovic, a representative in the Assembly of the CS Vildana Beslija, representatives of CS Ministry of Economy, Director of Public Utility Company“Veterinary Station” Nasiha Spahic, representatives of the United States (U.S.) Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Dogs Trust BiH Foundation, and other officials.
As it was said on this occasion, the construction of the new Shelter will be carried out in three phases. The first, which started yesterday, involves the demolition of existing buildings and the preparation of the construction site, the construction of the main building of the shelter for abandoned animals, then three pavilions for the accommodation of abandoned dogs from the area of CS, the necessary water and sewage networks, and temporary housing for dogs that will be used while the work on the construction of the Shelter continues.
In the second phase, it is planned to equip the main building and the clinic that will be located within it, as well as two additional pavilions for the accommodation of dogs, while in the third phase, the external decorationworks and the official opening of the Shelter are planned. The entire work should take three years.
Prime Minister Uk expressed the hope that the construction will be completed earlier, stressing that the new Dog Shelter will meet the highest European standards. The CS government will support the mentioned project with 3.5 million BAM.
