As of January 25, 2021, the import of pears from Bosnia and Herzegovina, more precisely the Republika Srpska, is temporarily banned, it was published on the website of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Russia – Rosselkhonadzor.

It is further stated that during the negotiations on December 21, 2020. Russian officials informed BiH representatives that during the controls, “systemic identification” of pears infected with brown rot (Monilla fructicola) imported to Russia from the Republika Srpska was recorded.

Then bh. the party was informed that in case of repeated violations of import rules, the Russian side will be forced to impose restrictive measures.

“However, during the phytosanitary control of pear shipments from the RS entity, three cases of contamination with brown rot, a quarantine harmful organism, were re-identified,” the announcement reads.

Having in mind the stated circumstances, and in order to preserve phytosanitary safety and prevent the introduction of this dangerous quarantine harmful organism, Rosselkhonadzor considered it necessary to introduce a temporary import ban.

“Shipments of pears shipped from RS by January 25, 2021 are subject to import only on the basis of the results of laboratory tests on a number of quarantine pests typical of these products, ”the Rosselkhonadzor said in a statement.
