Ambassador of Austria in BiH Donatus Köck was in his first official visit to the office of the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Suad Zeljković.

They discussed the current economic projects in Sarajevo Canton whose investors are from Austria. Zeljković and Köck also talked about the activities on harmonization of the draft text of the Agreement on regional cooperation between the Sarajevo Canton and Austrian state of Carinthia (Kärnten), as well as the possible date of its signing.

Ambassador Köck pointed out that Austria is the biggest foreign investor in BiH, and that cooperation between the two countries has intensified in the last two years, illustrated by the trade surplus of BiH with Austria in 2011.

Köck said that Austrian businessmen are mainly interested in investing in metal and leather industry.

He added that the ”Bauhaus” company that deals with construction materials and has branches in 190 cities all over Europe wants to build a big business centre in the municipality of Novi Grad, where once ”Žica” factory stood. The business centre is worth 18 million EUR and would employ more than 150 workers.
