The Government of Sarajevo Canton approved the proposal to purchase service vehicles for the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, with the aim ofmaintaining and continuously renewing the fleet.
The project to equip the Sarajevo Canton police with new service vehicles ensures the necessary technical requirements for the effective performance of duties and tasks within the jurisdiction of both the uniformed and criminal police.
Police vehicles operate 24 hours a day and accumulate a high number of stationary operating hours. Due to their age and wear, vehicles often break down, and repairs can take a long time, leaving vehicles out of service. In such circumstances, the remaining functional vehicles are used even more intensively. Frequent and costly repairs of old vehicles significantly increase repair and maintenance costs.
“The Government of Sarajevo Canton has granted approval for the implementation of the Project for the Purchase of Motor Vehicles for the Police, based on the Economic Feasibility Report, as it is not economical to invest in repairing old vehicles. As a result, the fleet renewal began two years ago with the purchase of 76 new service motor vehicles. In 2026, the purchase of an additional 75 vehicles is planned, including passenger vehicles, vans, off-road vehicles, Caddy vehicles, and a special investigation vehicle,” explained Admir Katica, the Minister of Interior.
The renewal of the fleet began in mid-2024 when the police in Sarajevo Canton purchased the following vehicles: Toyota Land Cruiser (five vehicles), Toyota Corolla Sedan (eight vehicles),Skoda Octavia (nine vehicles), VW Golf VIII (46 vehicles), VW ID.3 (one vehicle), and VW Caddy (seven vehicles).
The Project for Purchasing New Motor Service Vehicles is included in the Program of Public Investments of Sarajevo Canton 2026–2028, with about 2.7 million BAM allocated for the project.
