The Daughter of a War Criminal insulted Muslims: The Call to Prayer in Velika Kladusa bothers Elvira Abdic Jelenovic

Elvira Abdic Jelenovic, the president of the Labor Party and the daughter of the convicted war criminal Fikret Abdic, again caused an avalanche of criticism for her irresponsible and insulting statements about Muslims in Velika Kladusa.

In a video circulating on social networks, Abdic Jelenovic, without any sensitivity and respect for the religious feelings of the local Muslim community, belittled the call to prayer, publicly denying the tradition that has been present in this environment for centuries.

“They can turn up the speakers as much as they want when it’s noon prayer or whatever, just to draw attention to themselves. We all know that this didn’t happen before, you couldn’t hear it from the mosque. I didn’t invent it,” said Abdic Jelenovic, completely ignoring the religious tradition and culture of the Muslim community in Velika Kladusa.

Her statements are not only inappropriate, but also dangerous, because they come at a time when social divisions and tensions in this region are already sufficiently pronounced.

This is not the first time that Abdic Jelenovic has found herself at the center of a scandal. Her questionable management practices have already been the target of criticism. In the report of the Service for Auditing the Financing of Political Parties, published in 2021, it was revealed that during 2019, the Labor Party paid over 40,000 BAM to Abdic Jelenovic and other officials without valid financial documentation. Despite these serious allegations, she continued to lead the party as if rules and accountability had not existed for her, according to Klix.ba.

The public rightly asks the question: until when will Elvira Abdic Jelenovic, a person whose political and moral reputation is seriously questioned, use her position to spread divisions and provocations?
