Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar will not stop the “Axis of Resistance” and that Hamas will survive.

“Hamas is alive and will remain alive,” Khamenei announced.

Sinwar, the architect of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel that started the war in the Gaza Strip, was killed on October 16 in a shootout with Israeli forces after a year-long manhunt, and his death was announced on Thursday.

The “Axis of Resistance,” built with longtime Iranian support, includes Hamas, the Lebanese group Hezbollah, the Houthi movement in Yemen, and various Shia groups in Iraq and Syria. These groups claim to be resisting Israel and US influence in the Middle East.
