The Dragons face Austria Tonight for a Place in the World Cup

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team will host Austria tonight at the Bilino Polje stadium in Zenica in a derby of Group H of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Watch the BiH – Austria match live on BHRT tonight at 8:35 PM.

Three days ago, Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a convincing 6:0 away win in San Marino, while Austria defeated Cyprus 1:0 at home.

Our players have started the qualifiers brilliantly with four wins and a maximum score of 12 points. The Dragons will look to continue their winning streak against Austria – their biggest rival in the fight for a direct place at the 2026 World Cup.

Head coach Sergej Barbarez emphasizes that the duel with Austria will be the toughest challenge for his team in these qualifiers.

“We are expecting a serious, combative and probably the most intense match so far. Against San Marino we tried to add depth to our game, but now we face a much more demanding opponent. The plan is to have players on the field from the first minute who can respond to that intensity,” said Barbarez.

Barbarez confirmed that all players are healthy and ready and motivated for the match, and stressed that he would not be satisfied with a point against Austria on home soil in Zenica.

“A point is never our goal. If I thought that way, I would not be in this job. We have a clear vision and attitude. If we don’t have confidence after four rounds, when will we have it,” stressed Barbarez.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has met Austria five times so far, four of which were official matches and one friendly. Both teams have achieved one victory each, while three matches ended in a draw.

The match at Bilino Polje will be refereed by Jesús Gil Manzano from Spain, assisted by compatriots Diego Barbero and Ángel Nevado. The fourth referee is Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez, while the VAR referees are Carlos del Cerro Grande and Valentín Gómez, all from Spain.

In the table of Group H, Bosnia and Herzegovina leads with 12 points, Austria has 9, Romania 6, Cyprus 3 and San Marino 0 points.
