12735911_1108243099226645_762215616_nRed Bull Cliff Diving World Championships is coming to BiH this year as well.

On September 24 the best world divers will again perform amazing dives that delighted the spectators in BiH last summer. However, a special surprise awaits us this year: the best world female divers are also coming to Mostar, who will show that they do not lag behind their male colleagues at all.

After a spectacular competition last year, Mostar and the Stari Most are again on the calendar of the most prestigious world competition in high diving – the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championship 2016. Elite world divers will again demonstrate their stunning skills, diving from the height of 27 meters. Moreover, a competition in female category will also be held this year. The best world female divers will perform their acrobatics from 20 meters of height.

Among the competitors will be the undisputed five-time champion Gary Hunt (UK), then the favorite of domestic audience – the legendary Orlando Duque (Colombia), and the last year’s winner, the young Jonathan Paredes (Mexico). Among the female competitors, emphasis is on the double champion Rachelle Simpson (USA), the German Anna Bader and an amazing veteran Ginger Leigh Huber (USA).

The legendary Mostar diver Emir Balić commented on Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championships coming to Mostar: “This means a lot, not only for Mostar but for the entire BiH. It is not necessary to mention how many people in the world will watch the diving. The Stari Most is one of the most beautiful diving spots in the world. I believe that this will most probably be the event number one in 2016 for Mostar and for BiH”.

Mostar is the seventh out of nine stations of the championships. The good news is that the competition on the Stari Most is scheduled for the second half of September, thus the unbearable heat that marked last year’s competition in BiH will be avoided.

This championships, the eight in a row, is the largest so far: it will have nine competitions for men, seven for women, and two completely new locations (Japan and the United Arab Emirates). It is to begin on June 4 in the USA, and then it goes to Denmark, Portugal, France, Italy, Wales, and then it comes to BiH in September. Following Mostar are Japan and the UAE.

Calendar of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championships 2016:

June 4 – Texas, USA (women, men)

June 18 – Copenhagen, DEN (men)

July 9 – S. Miguel, Azori, POR (women, men)

July 23 – La Rochelle, FRA (men)

August 28 – Polignano a Mare, ITA (women, men)
