A video about a unique adrenaline venture, which was achieved 200 meters above the ground in Tijesno Canyon in Banja Luka, was recently published on the official Facebook page of the “National Geographic Adventur”.
A video in which fans of climbing sport had the opportunity yo enjoy in specially made hammocks, which are hanging in the air above the canyon, recorded more than 26,000 “likes” on the aforementioned social network.
Secretary of climbing club “Extreme” from Banja Luka, Zelimir Rnjak, said that everything happened back in 2016 within the “Drill and Chill Climbing and Highlining Festival”.
“We are very happy that this was published in the National Geographic, although that news might be a bit late now. It was first published by the network ‘Matador’, after which the video became really ‘viral’. Everything was recorded within an advertisement for the manufacturer of these hammocks. Back then, we broke a world record in the use of this equipment, that is, in this kind of sporting activity,” said Rnjak.
“We will organize something exciting and interesting again for sure, because this became a famous festival and we have more than 150 participants from all over the world every year,” noted Rnjak.
He also added that this kind of festivals contribute to the development of climbing sport as well as to its scene in BiH, but also to the sector of tourism in Banja Luka.
The event that happened two years ago in Tijesno Canyon gathered around twenty young people from several countries who enjoyed four hours of pure adrenaline joy in the air above the canyon. Specially designed hammocks, which are five meters long, were attached to a rope in the total length of 80 meters. The deck chairs were made of special materials and they provide maximum security.
Tijesno Canyon is about 20 kilometers away from Banja Luka.
