The Sipović sisters, Emina and Nejra, achieved great success by winning bronze medals at the European Senior Karate Championships held in Frankfurt, confirming once again that they belong to the very top of European and world karate.
Emina Sipović in the 61 kg category reached the medal after an extremely demanding journey. She opened the competition with a victory against the representative of England Jasmine Pomeroy with a score of 3:1, and after losing to Altana Basangova from Russia, who later reached the final, she showed her champion character through the repechage. On the way to the bronze, she defeated the representative of Switzerland Nina Radjenović 4:3, the representative of Ukraine Oleksandra Sholokhova 4:1, and in the decisive fight for the medal, the representative of Azerbaijan Gulay Orujova with a score of 4:0.
As a winner of European and world medals during her rich career, Emina further enriched her collection of top results with this medal.
Her sister Nejra Sipović in the 55 kg category also achieved a great result. On her way to the European bronze medal, she defeated the representative of Spain Ruth Lorenzo Coso 1:0, the representative of Hungary Panka Torok 4:2, and the representative of Switzerland Lara Kim Streit 2:0. After losing to Medina Sadigova from Azerbaijan, she came back even stronger in the repechage and convincingly defeated the Italian Viola Lallo 8:0 in the fight for the medal.
For Nejra, this is the continuation of an extremely successful season. This year, she won the gold medal at the Premier League in Rome, bronze in China, and now bronze at the European Senior Championship, which places her among the main candidates in the race for the prestigious title of Grand Winner.
The Sipović sisters have proven once again that Bosnia and Herzegovina has top athletes who continue to write the most beautiful pages of BiH sports with their results, announced the Karate Club Ippon Sarajevo.
