In order to increase the level of safety of road users, the entire main road, from Ilidža to Baščaršija, will be “covered” by stationary radars.
This is one of the measures announced at the meeting where the application of the Guidelines for improving traffic safety in Sarajevo Canton was considered, and as Minister Admir Katica announced, funds for the purchase of new stationary and mobile radars, in the amount of 1.5 million BAM, are already provided.
Katica held a meeting with Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević, Head of the Traffic Unit Faik Lušija, Head of the Video Surveillance Department Mirzo Nikšić, Video Surveillance Engineer Savudin Buljubašić and Coordinator for Improving Traffic Safety in KS Semir Šuta, where the implementation of the Guidelines was discussed and the achievements were analyzed results, along with the proposal of measures to achieve an even better effect and increase the degree of safety.
In this regard, the modalities of implementation of new devices and systems on roads in Sarajevo Canton were considered. The activities of the MUP of the Sarajevo Canton – Police Directorate in the coming period will be focused on the procurement and implementation of new radars that will be multifunctional in nature and will have the ability to read and analyze vehicle license plates with high resolution.
The new radars will be placed in visible places with easily visible colors that will have a preventive character. This measure seeks to achieve the development of driver awareness of the danger of speeding, but also to increase the effectiveness of radar systems in recognizing persons who violate prescribed traffic restrictions, Klix.ba writes.
