”The establishment of the helicopter unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (CS) is a project that goes beyond the needs of the ministry itself and will have first-class importance for this canton, ” said Minister of Internal Affairs of CS, Admir Katica.
He clarified that it is a multi-purpose aircraft, specialized for multipurpose functioning (transportation of the sick and wounded, extinguishing fires, rescue from water, descent into minefields, delivery of various types of aid, operational police tasks, control of critical points in traffic, aerial reconnaissance, rescue in mountainous areas, transport of passengers and the like.).
By its nature, the project is multi-phased.
Katica states that the final negotiations regarding the purchase of land for the construction of a hangar, located in the vicinity of Sarajevo Airport, are underway. The purchase of land and the conceptual design for the construction of the hangar should be completed in the current year.
“The establishment of the helicopter unit is also advanced and the candidates only need to complete the medical examinations and they will be able to start the selection. It goes without saying that the criteria for the selection of pilots and car mechanics are very, very high, and the tests were conducted by people who are renowned experts in in their fields. Then the selection of the academy will follow, where the best candidates will be sent to study,” the minister points out.
Since not a single offer was acceptable to the contracting authority in the open public procurement procedure of the multi-purpose aircraft, in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement, the contracting authority will start the procurement process again, which should be realized in May of the current year. Katica says that the Ministry will make maximum efforts so that the contract with the supplier can be signed in the current year.
