On Lake Mostar, the active preparations of Mostar boatmen for the competition at the traditional Neretva Boat Marathon “Metkovic-Ploce 2023” have begun, which will be held on August 12th and will gather boatmen from the entire region starting at 5 p.m.

The President of the Mostar Boating Association, Darko Karacic, says that the people of Mostar started training on the Neretva River, more precisely on Lake Mostar, 10 days ago.

“The team of 20 members is working hard and wants to take a step higher in this very demanding sports competition,” said Karacic.

He points out that it is a very physically demanding sport where blisters and pain are unavoidable.

“Due to the specific way of rowing, the whole body is exposed to effort, and our members, in addition to rowing and running, are cyclists, hikers, engage in martial arts and know how to deal with that effort,” emphasized Karacic, and invited fellow citizens to try this sport and experience the marathon firsthand.

He notes that two days before the men’s marathon, a 10-kilometer women’s marathon is held on the route Metkovic-Opuzen, making it an unforgettable adventure and a memory for a lifetime, and those interested can contact the Mostar Boat Association on Facebook and Instagram.

“Let’s proudly present the name of our city together at this year’s 26th boat marathon,” the Mostar boatmen said.
