As part of the celebration of Sarajevo City Day, from April 6 to 10, the Museum of Literature and Theater Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina will host a unique cultural project “Sarajevo Time Capsule”.

This project was organized by the Association “Sevdah Salon Balkan”, with the support of the City of Sarajevo.

The central part of the project is a time capsule, a symbolic space where citizens, especially schoolchildren and students, will have the opportunity to leave personal records as a testimony of a time.

The capsule will be open to the public during the exhibition, from April 6 to 10, after which it will be closed and stored. Its contents will be opened and read in ten years, as a document of a generation and its view of Sarajevo.

In parallel with that, a thematic exhibition establishing a dialogue between contemporary and historical Sarajevo will be set up in the Museum area.

The exhibition consists of photographs by the author Esad Lukač, which bring contemporary views of the city, in combination with selected exhibits from the museum’s collections, creating a unique narrative unit about the continuity of the cultural life of Sarajevo.
Among the exhibits on display are items from collections dedicated to prominent personalities and institutions of the Bosnian cultural scene, including the Karađoz doll from Rejhan Demirdžić’s oeuvre, Boris Smoja’s theater binoculars, a stage photograph from the play “Hamlet” by the Sarajevo National Theater, a portrait of actress Jolanda Đačić…

This exhibition is not only an overview of the artistic and cultural heritage, but also a reminder of the continuity of creation, identity and common memory of the city of Sarajevo.

Ceremonial opening of the exhibition and presentation of the time capsule, accompanied by a musical performance by Eda and Dina Krilić and special guests, the doyen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Jasna Diklić’s theater will be held on April 6 at 1 p.m.

Association “Sevdah Salon Balkan”, in cooperation with the Museum of Literature and Theater Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, invites citizens to visit the exhibition and leave their message in the Time Capsule of Sarajevo and become part of the story that is yet to be read. Entrance is free of charge.
