The FBiH Also Secure In Fuel Supply Despite Sanctions On Serbian Oil Refinery

The sanctions that the United States (U.S.) imposed on the Serbian Oil Refinery in Pancevo will not significantly affect the fuel supply in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), said Merima Maslo, adviser to the Federation’s Minister of Trade, commenting on the information that the refinery has been left without crude oil for processing.

Maslo emphasized that BiH imports around 20 percent of its total quantities of petroleum products from Serbia, and that exclusively through the entity of Republika Srpska (RS), while the Federation of BiH (FBiH) is predominantly supplied from the direction of Croatia, through refineries and distribution chains that are not affected by the sanctions.

“This ensures market stability and continuity of supply. The sanctions on the Serbian Oil Refinery will not significantly affect the fuel market in BiH, nor the supply to citizens and the economy,” said Maslo.

She added that the Federation Ministry of Trade continuously monitors the situation in the domestic and regional energy market and, in cooperation with the competent institutions, undertakes all necessary measures to ensure a proper and stable supply.

“At this moment, there is no reason for concern, nor do we expect disruptions in the availability or supply of fuel in the territory of the FBiH,” stated the minister’s adviser.

RS does not expect disruptions in the supply of petroleum products

In RS, there will be no disruptions in the supply of petroleum products in the event that the Pancevo Oil Refinery halts production, emphasized last week the Minister of Energy and Mining of RS, Petar Djokic, after a meeting with representatives of distributors of oil and petroleum products in RS.
