Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Dzindic said that the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) Government yesterday made a decision on assistance or subsidies for electricity bills for socially vulnerable categories of the population.
The minister noted that last week meetings were held with the directors of Elektroprivreda Sarajevo and Elektroprivreda HZHB, with which several models of operation were discussed, and in the end a decision was made to use the model from 2011, which is the easiest to implement.
“The FBiH government today made a decision by which approximately 70,000 beneficiaries will be allocated 20 BAM in the next five months, which is a direct measure of 100 BAM per family. The measure from 2011 of plus five BAM, i.e. plus seven related to Elektroprivreda HZHB will remain valid, andwill not be terminated even after the expiration of five months,” Djindic pointed out yesterday.
He emphasized that both Elektroprivreda companies have set aside about ten million BAM for this purpose, and that the same model was offered to the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Government for subsidizing gas for the citizens of CS, considering that 80 percent of gas is used in this canton.
“I hope that the CS Government will consider this model by August 22nd, when a new meeting is scheduled, and enter the subsidy procedure,” concluded Djindic.
