Salko Hadžić and Mensur Nukić are two victims of the genocide in Srebrenica whose skeleton parts were found during the exhumation carried out in Brčko in September last year, Emza Fazlić, spokeswoman for the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina (INO BiH), confirmed for Anadolu news agency.

Their incomplete remains were found encased in concrete, more precisely under a fountain in a private yard.

Earlier, DNA analysis determined that the remains belonged to two victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995.

“These victims disappeared in the summer of 1995 in the area of Zapolje in Vlasenica. Their incomplete remains were exhumed years after they were killed, that is, three years after, according to witnesses, the remains were brought to Brčko,” said Fazlić.

In one case, the incomplete remains of a victim were exhumed in June 2000 in the area of Cerska, locality Turalići.

The incomplete remains of the second victim, whose remains found in the fountain were determined to belong to her, were also exhumed in the summer of 2000 in the area of Cerska, Zapolje locality.

In the yard of the family house of Nebojša Mraović in Brčko District, on September 20 last year, the remains of a victim of the past war were exhumed, the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced at the time.

It was assumed that this was a victim of Bosniak nationality who disappeared in the area of Srebrenica.

According to the information available to the INO BiH at the time, the victim’s remains were brought to Brčko immediately after the war, and in 2012 they were buried and hidden under a fountain in a private yard, most likely by the owner of the plot, and the competent prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the case.
