The State Court confirmed the indictment against Kerim Lucarevic, charging him with crimes against prisoners of war, the wounded and sick, the civilian population, and the unlawful killing and wounding of the enemy in Sarajevo’s Dobrovoljacka Street on May 3rd, 1992.
Lucarevic is accused of, in the capacity of commander of the Military Police of the Republican Headquarters of the Territorial Defense Force (TO) of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RBiH). not taking the necessary and reasonable measures to punish the perpetrators of the murders of soldiers and civilians after the attack and stoppage of the column of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) in Dobrovoljacka Street, as well as those who mentally and physically abused the soldiers, even though, as stated in the indictment, he knew or could have known about these criminal acts.
In addition, Lucarevic is accused in the indictment of not having taken any action to prevent the perpetrators who abused the prisoners in the premises of the FIS, the Headquarters of the TO of the RBiH in the building of the Presidency of the RBiH and on the fifth floor of the Central Prison, and that, as stated in the indictment, military policemen subordinate to him participated in this.
According to an earlier announcement by the Prosecutor’s Office, on May 3rd, 1992, eight people with established identities were killed in Dobrovoljacka street, including civilians and medical personnel, 24 people were wounded, and more than a dozen soldiers and civilians were captured, who were tortured, abused and imprisoned in three facilities in Sarajevo.
A few months ago, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against the former political, military, and police officials – Ejup Ganic, Zaim Backovic, Hamid Bahta, Hasan Efendic, Fikret Muslimovic, Jusuf Pusina, Bakir Alispahic, Enes Bezdrob, Ismet Dahic, and Mahir Zisko – for crimes in Dobrovoljacka Street and the trial in this case recently began, Detektor reports.
