The Islamic Community distributed 12.7 million BAM in 2015 in Humanitarian Purposes

13289094_1773412976228712_1744701914_nThe Islamic community leads a series of social and humanitarian activities through dzemats, majlises, mufti offices and other institutions, both in the country and abroad. Professional activities in this area are organized and implemented by the Office for social care of the Islamic Community (IC) in BiH. The ways in which these activities are being realized are different. Mainly, the Office receives the requests for assistance from individuals, associations, institutions, schools for children with special needs, soup kitchens, etc.

During 2015, the Office paid 701,153.12 BAM upon the decision of the Commission for the floods, which was dealing with incoming requests for help with flood damage repairs.

The Office realized a donation of “Cordoba Foundation” from London through the association “Povratak” in 2015 in the amount of 35,000.00 BAM for the purchase of 14 cows for returnees in Eastern BiH.

From the contingent of Eid el Adha meat products through the Office was provided support to soup kitchens in the RS, associations and institutions that are taking care for the elderly people in the amount of 50,000.00 BAM.

Thousand packages for returnees in Eastern BiH were divided during the month of Ramadan. The funds for these packages were provide by Rijaset and several other donors. A total of 1,200 Eid gifts for children were divided as well, and the funds were provided by donors through the Directorate for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.

Through the Office were realized two projects of providing medical assistance to returnees to Kozarac and Zvornik in cooperation with the Directorate for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, the Medical Association BIMA and Foundation Muharem Berbic.

“Rijaset of IC held other humanitarian actions such as assistance to refugees from Syria, and help to Muslims of Burma and Nepal etc. With the association “Svitanje” we realized the project “School children of Rogatica “. Through this project was provided clothing, footwear and food packages to 11 schoolchildren returnees in Rogatica, and scholarships that are donations of “Bor Bank” from Sarajevo. According to previously collected data from the majlis, mufti offices, institutions and our dzemats in the Diaspora, which are not final yet, through IZ was realized approximately 12,783,270 BAM through these projects of social and humanitarian character,” said Hamed Efendic, head of the Office for social care, adding that these are only some of the social and humanitarian activities that are carried out by the Office for social care.
