The Israeli army announced on Friday that it had killed the leader of Hamas in the West Bank.
In a statement, the Israeli military said its forces targeted a vehicle carrying Wasema Hazema, the leader of the Hamas network in Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank.
It added that Israeli forces killed two more Palestinians, Misbah al-Masharq and Arafat Amr, who were in the vehicle.
So far, Hamas has not commented on Israel’s claims.
On Friday, the Israeli army continued its military offensive on the city of Jenin and the refugee camp in the northern West Bank for the third day in a row.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army launched its biggest military operation since 2002 on the towns of Tulkarm and Jenin, as well as the Al Fara refugee camp near Tubas, killing 16 Palestinians.
Tensions are rising across the occupied West Bank in the wake of Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 40,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since October 7 last year.
At least 670 Palestinians have since been killed, nearly 5,400 wounded and more than 10,300 arrested in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials said, AA writes.
