The last two citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been evacuated from Afghanistan for sure, the acting secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakir Sadovic, confirmed for BHRT.

This completes the evacuation of BH citizens from Kabul who have so far contacted the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Pakistan.

All communication channels and lines remain open until further notice in the event that, possibly, additional information about BH citizens in the area appears.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has joined the Joint Statement of the US State Department calling for peace in Afghanistan, Klix.ba has learned.

Although not yet listed on the State Department’s website, BiH has joined the list of 100 countries.

As Klix.ba has learned unofficially, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately wanted to send the “green light” to join the statement, but it was also waiting for the consent of the BiH Presidency, although this was not necessary.

It is a statement initiated by the United States on August 15, 2021, prompted by the Taliban re-establishing power in Afghanistan.

“Given the deteriorating security situation, we support, are working to secure, and call on all parties to respect and facilitate, the safe and orderly departure of foreign nationals and Afghans who wish to leave the country. Those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan bear responsibility—and accountability—for the protection of human life and property, and for the immediate restoration of security and civil order. Afghans and international citizens who wish to depart must be allowed to do so; roads, airports and border crossing must remain open, and calm must be maintained,” is stated in the joint statement by the US State Department calling for peace in Afghanistan.

The declaration adds that the Afghan people deserve to live in safety, security and dignity.

“We in the international community stand ready to assist them,” it was concluded.

The signatory states to the statement agree that, as stated in it, they support, call on and work to ensure that all parties respect and facilitate the safe and orderly departure of those Afghans who wish to leave their country.
