The Law Applies to Everyone: Prince Harry will have to go to Court

Prince Harry’s defamation suit against the Mail on Sunday newspaper over an article about his personal security will go to court, a London court said, rejecting Harry’s request that the publisher’s defense not be considered.

The youngest son of King Charles III sued the publisher Associated Newspapers last year over an article alleging it tried to keep secret a legal dispute with the British government over police protection that ended after he stepped down from royal duties in 2020.

The article accused Harry of trying to mislead the public that he was willing to pay for protection himself.

Harry asked the court not to consider the paper’s defense, but the judge ruled that he had a chance of success.

“The Duke of Sussex’s suit will now go through the remaining stages of the pre-trial process and trial in 2024,” a summary of the court’s decision states, according to “b92”.
