“You are actually liberals, neo-Bolsheviks, and that topic hurts you,” said the mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, responding to the criticism of the opposition councilors, while answering the councilors’ questions, he said that Josip Broz Tito should be buried like General Francisco Franco in Spain.
Ahead of the session, Sapic announced at a press conference the initiative to move the grave of Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito from the Museum of Yugoslavia and the Tomb of the National Heroes from Kalemegdan, because it is “very important for the Serbian people and the country”.
Speaking about it, Sapic also stated that Ivica Dacic‘s SPS will not oppose it because they are a socialist and not a communist party.
He also announced that he would launch an initiative to erect a monument to the leader of the Chetnik movement, Draza Mihailovic, in Terazije.
To recall, Sapic announced back in April of this year that he would launch an initiative to make the House of Flowers, that is, the Museum of Yugoslavia, a museum of Serbian history, and that Josip Broz Tito, who rests in it, would return to Kumrovec. Sapic then said that the people who, as he stated, really defended the Serbs should rest in that museum – Stepa Stepanovic, Zivojin Misic, Radomir Putnik and others.
“These are people whom Europe admired and who defended it in the First World War against the Germans, who would now declare us genocidal,” said Sapic at the time.
Members of the majority in the Assembly of the City of Belgrade yesterday rejected all proposals of the opposition to supplement the agenda of the session where the budget rebalancing proposal for 2024 will be considered, reports Beta.
The parliamentary group of the Green-Left Front (ZLF) and the Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) proposed the dismissal of acting city secretary of the Secretariat for Public Transport Radovan Kremic due to a series of incidents in city transport and the dismissal of the director of GSP ”Belgrade” Zoran Sarac.
At the beginning of the session, Savo Manojlovic (”Kreni Promeni” movement) got into a verbal duel with Sapic, and the session took place with raised voices.
This is the first session in this convocation of the City Assembly that ”Kreni Promeni” movement councilors attend since after the June elections they only verified their mandates and boycotted the sessions.
The rebalancing of the city budget in the amount of 202.2 billion dinars, due to a 6.1 percent increase in revenue, was on the agenda of the Assembly of Belgrade.
The session was not broadcast live by Studio B, and the opposition requested the broadcast.
