“The Presidency of the Independent Union of Mineworkers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina asked the FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić to receive them for a discussion today and to try to resolve the extremely difficult situation in the Zenica Brown Coal Mine,” said the president of the Trade Union Sinan Husić.
In his statement to Fena, he pointed out that during today’s stay in Zenica and tour of the “Raspotočje” plant, he was convinced that the 30 or so miners who entered the pit yesterday in the second shift at 3 p.m., have no intention of leaving the pit.
”Due to the health condition of a certain number of workers, who are in the facility with underground exploitation for more than 24 hours, this must be resolved. We, and no one else, must not ignore this and risk that our people start dying. We demand a meeting in the FBiH Government, and if necessary, an extraordinary session of the Supervisory Board of the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH, because we no longer have anyone there to talk to. That building is empty and, as far as we have information, the leading people have already left their cabinet and have no intention of dealing with us or EPBiH anymore,” says Husić.
If the situation in the Zenica mine is not resolved and the miners of that company receive their June salary and a hot meal for the month of May, which is their condition for resuming production, Husić announces that he will organize protests in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo no later than Friday.
According to him, they no longer see a partner in the Public Enterprise Eekrroprivreda BiH and demand that the problems begin to be solved urgently.
