Miners of Zenica Mines are Protesting due to unpaid Salaries

The workers’ union of the brown coal mine Zenica organized this morning peaceful protests by miners who are demanding the payment of their earned wages. Previously, a group of miners went on a hunger strike, confirmed for BHRT the President of the Trade Union, Elvedin Avdić. Production in both plants has been suspended since Saturday.

After gathering in front of the Mine administration, the miners protested in front of the headquarters of the City Administration of Zenica, but none of the authorities addressed them. Then they headed back through the city streets to the circle of the company where, as they announced, they would announce their next steps.

The workers’ disobedience is in force due to the unpaid salary for February and two hot meals that the administration is unable to pay them because the City Administration has blocked the account due to unpaid interest claims.

It was previously announced that the Zenica miners will be supported by employees from other mines of the Elektroprivreda BiH concern.
