Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić said today in Sarajevo after a meeting with miners’ representatives that they agreed that in the next week they will try to pay the back wages for January and February in RMU Zenica, for which funds have been secured.

He added that it was jointly concluded that production in that mine in the previous period was not at a satisfactory level and that the future of RMU Zenica will soon be decided by an expert team.

Lakić said that in the coming period they must work together to solve the accumulated problems in order to bring the mines to an optimal level, so that they do not find themselves in a situation where we buy coal from other mines or, even worse, import electricity.

The President of the Union of Mineworkers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sinan Husić, expressed the expectation that the agreement will be implemented and the wages paid in the next week.

He insisted that in the next 15 days a decision should be made on the status of RMK Zenica, which must guarantee the care of workers in accordance with the law.

About three hundred miners who gathered today for peaceful protests in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo dispersed after the results of the negotiations were conveyed to them, Federalna writes.
