53 million euros worth heating plant Toplana Zenica was officially opened in Zenica yesterday, which will provide safe heating for the citizens of Zenica, and it is also one of the most modern environmental projects in the country.

Toplana Zenica has been in operation since November last year, when better quality heating was started to be delivered to the citizens of Zenica, but also since 150.000 tons of coal have not been used to heat households in Zenica, which has caused additional pollution in the past. Representatives of the Federal and Cantonal Governments, the City of Zenica, and other institutions, yesterday expressed satisfaction with the completed project that is available to the citizens of Zenica.

Director of ArcelorMittal Zenica, Nikhil Mehta, said that this is a green project that has been realized for the last five years and that it meets all environmental requirements and provides safe heating to the citizens of Zenica.

”We no longer use nearly 150.000 tons of coal and we are fully compliant with the law. Toplana Zenica has provided safe heating to the citizens of Zenica and will provide it in the future. I would like to thank to all shareholders in this project. The city was also patient in the realization of this project, they believed in us, and a big thank you goes to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), which gave us all the permits for this project,” Mehta cheerfully said.

Director of Toplana Emir Krgo said that Toplana Zenica is a project that cost more than 50 million euros and solved many problems in ArcelorMittal Zenica and the City of Zenica.

”The most important thing is that the level of production safety in the company ArcelorMittal has been raised, an additional air source has been provided for the Blast Furnace, and the City of Zenica has received safe heating. We should not forget the aspect of ecology. We worked with boilers that consumed about 150.000 tons of coal a year, and now we use coke oven gas as part of the process at ArcelorMittal. Also, the heating plant can work on natural gas and is the most modern energy project in BiH,” Krgo said.
