At today’s regular session, the Council of Communications Regulatory Agency of B&H made the decision on the abolition of national roaming in our country.
The agency estimated that, in order to strengthen competition in the mobile market, it is necessary to provide an incentive for operators to improve their availability and quality of their networks. Because of this, the decision was made on canceling the current way of providing services in case that the user of one GSM operator uses the network of another GSM operator, with this functionality offered to costumer as a separate service for which it is paying an additional fee.
In the case of the agreement on the joint use of network capacities, operators are obliged to ensure that from the perspective of end users there is no difference whether the operator implements the service through its own network or through rental capacities of another operator.
The Council reviewed and accepted the information on realization of the conclusions of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H regarding the prices of mobile telephony, and endorsed a set of short-term measures that the Agency prepared and submitted to dominant telecom operators. The Council found that the use of short-term measures aimed at improving conditions for end users, and it obliged the Agency to inform the Council agreed on short-term measures, as well as on the proposed long-term measures that will be submitted to the Council on consideration.
At today’s meeting was also adopted plan and work program of the Agency for 2016, and determined procedure for the election of the Director General of the Agency.
