The newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dawn McKen handed over her credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, today.

During the meeting with the chairman of the Presidency, Ambassador McKen pointed out that it is a great honor for her to take over the position of ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to continue to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the United Kingdom and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The British government is a long-term friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all its citizens. This relationship is based on mutual respect, practical support and constructive advice. I look forward to continuing to build long-standing and close ties between our countries, on the strong foundations laid by my predecessors. Our common commitment to this friendship and joint work is all the more important in times of common global challenges and threats,” Ambassador said.

Ambassador McKen confirmed the commitment of the United Kingdom to support the sovereignty, stability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its Euro-Atlantic path.

“I undertake to work together with you, with other members of the Presidency, as well as with all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in support of the sovereignty, stability and security of all citizens of this wonderful country, and in progressing on the Euro-Atlantic path they have chosen,” said McKen.

Ambassador McKen is coming to Sarajevo after the end of the British ambassador’s mandate in Montenegro. With more than three decades of diplomatic experience, she held senior positions throughout Europe and other parts of the world, including in Greece, Hungary, Russia and Afghanistan, as well as leadership positions in the areas of European affairs, security and international partnerships.

In her address, Ambassador McKen emphasized the importance of cooperation with political leaders, official institutions, companies and civil society in order to help build economic security, strengthen trade, investment and partnership between our countries, and create a foundation for common security, stability and prosperity.

“I am convinced that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a bright future,” said Ambassador McKen, as announced by the British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
