The new Subdivision of Corridor Vc is open to Traffic

The highways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened a new subsection of the highway on Corridor Vc, on the stretch Doboj Jug – Medakovo, today at 1 p.m. It is a seven-kilometer long road that, above all, will significantly improve the connection of Tešnj with the highway network in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The new subdivision includes the route from Putnikovi Brdo to Medakovo, thus connecting Tešanj directly with the highway to Doboj for the first time.

Use of the subdivision is free until September 2

Traffic is open in accordance with the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the temporary suspension of toll collection on this section. According to the decision of August 19, 2026, drivers will not pay tolls from the moment the subdivision opens until September 2, 2026.

This means that all users will be able to use the route Doboj Jug (Putnikovo Brdo) – Medakovo for free during that period.

The biggest benefit for Tešanj

The opening of the new subdivision is particularly significant for the residents and the economy of Tešnja, who have a direct exit to the highway in the direction of Doboj. For drivers coming from other parts of the Federation of BiH, however, the significance of this subsection is currently limited because it is not yet connected to the complete route of Corridor Vc towards Žepče.

This primarily refers to the section Medakovo – Ozimice, 21.5 kilometers long, the construction of which will enable a better and faster connection of the northern part of the country with the area of Zenica and Sarajevo.

Until the end of that section, drivers traveling from Sarajevo, Zenica or Žepče to the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina will still have to use main roads to a significant extent.

When will the connection to Žepč be completed?
According to earlier announcements by the FBiH Highway, it is expected that the Medakovo – Ozimice section could be opened by the end of 2026.

If that deadline is realized, the new subdivision that was put into traffic today will gain significantly more importance for the entire traffic on Corridor Vc.

At the same time, there are announcements that by the end of this year, the section from Zenica Sjever to the entrance to Žepče could also be open to traffic.

When the route from Ozimica near Žepče to Medakovo near Tešnj is added, a much more functional connection between the central and northern parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be created.

There are still 12 kilometers to go

The only section on this stretch of Corridor Vc that is not yet under construction is the route from the entrance to Žepče to Ozimica, which is about 12 kilometers long. The tender procedure for this section has not yet been completed, which means that it will be necessary to wait for the completion of the procedures and the start of the works for its construction.

Only with the construction of all the remaining sections of Corridor Vc in this area will the full functionality of the highway be realized for passengers moving between Sarajevo, Zenica, Žepče, Tešanj and the northern parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For now, however, the residents of Tešanj already have reason to be happy – as of today, they have direct access to the highway and a connection to Doboj, and the use of the new subsection is completely free until September 2nd.
