Following a draw against Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded its first victory in the Nations League by beating Romania 4-2 away. The Polish SportoweFakty reported that this result is a reason for concern for the Poles ahead of the upcoming rematch with the Dragons.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina is growing into a second force in Group IV of the Nations League, which is bad news for the Poles, who are set to play a rematch with the Bosnians soon,” SportoweFakty stated.
Romania entered the match following a 2-1 defeat to Sweden, while Bosnia and Herzegovina opened the competition with a draw against Poland.
The Romanians played against the Dragons without fan support. The match was played without fans due to a penalty for racist insults directed at Kosovo a little over a year ago.
The Dragons Quickly Scored Two Goals
The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead in the 12th minute. Esmir Bajraktarević crossed the ball, and Armin Gigović headed it in for 1-0.
Only seven minutes later, it was 2-0. Following a corner kick, Tarik Muharemović headed the ball into the net.
Romania pulled one back in the 28th minute. Lisav Eissat delivered a cross from the left, and Daniel Birligea scored with a header to make it 2-1.
However, Bosnia and Herzegovina scored a third goal before half-time. Haris Tabaković took advantage of an error by Romanian goalkeeper Radu, who dropped the ball, and scored to make it 3-1.
Bajraktarević Assists Once Again
Romania pressed higher in the second half, but Bosnia and Herzegovina scored a fourth goal in the 55th minute. Bajraktarević put in another cross, and Ermin Mahmić headed it in for 4-1.
The hosts did not give up, with Alexandru Cicâldău pulling one back in the 62nd minute to make it 2-4. SportoweFakty noted that Bosnian goalkeeper Martin Zlomislić was at fault in that situation, letting the ball pass almost through the middle of the goal.
Romania scored another goal late on, but it was ruled out for offside.
The Polish Media: Bosnia and Herzegovina Will Be a Favorite Against Poland
SportoweFakty especially emphasized the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the two matches, has four points, even though both were played away.
The Polish media believes that, following their win in Romania, the Dragons are emerging as the second force in the group, going a step further ahead of the next head-to-head match.
“There is no doubt that on October 5th, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be the favorite in the match against Poland,” wrote SportoweFakty.
Before playing an away match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland will face Romania on October 2nd, with SportoweFakty, N1 writes.
