Denis Bećirović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said today in Brčko that the newly appointed Presidency has a lot of good and encouraging results when it comes to the economy and life issues, having adopted grants and financial contracts worth 1.8 billion BAM, of which a grant for the Port of Brčko was approved in the amount of about six million BAM.
Bećirović said at the press conference after his first working visit to that city that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Brčko District are quite similar because in this local community they also want to build equality for all peoples and citizens.
“The Presidency is taking all steps to accelarate European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Our place is in the EU and after December 15th we are formally a candidate for full membership in the EU. We want to harmonize the legislation in the entire country with the EU legislation and to move in that direction on an accelerated path. Therefore, it would be good if all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina paid more attention to reform processes and less to tensions and quarrels. I want and believe that we can go much faster and better on this path of adapting to European standards in the interest of all people living in our country,” said Bećirović.
He believes that the idea of more frequent meetings, as well as visits by all three members of the Presidency, is good, and that, along with mutual communication, concrete things that are priorities for Brčko should be proposed.
Brčko District Mayor Zijad Nišić, together with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Brčko District Assembly Siniša Milić and Ivica Filipović, introduced Bećirović to all socio-economic aspects that are currently taking place in the District.
