The Rulebook on the Register of Pedophiles in FBiH enters into Force Today

The rulebook on the register of pedophiles in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was written by the Federal Ministry of Justice, enters into force today.

This was previously announced for Fena news agency by the representative in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lana Prlić.

As she said at the time, the Rulebook is part of the Law on a Special Register of Persons Convicted of Criminal Offenses Against Sexual Freedom and Morality towards Children and Minors in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will regulate in detail the manner and management of the Register of Pedophiles.

Prlić, who referred that law to the parliamentary procedure, said that the register will not be public, as it is not public in other countries of the world that have a register, and that only prosecutors’ offices and ministries of the interior will have access, but also upon justified request and others.

She added that the Republika Srpska entity created such a register back in 2018 and that the register of pedophiles will be similar.

Prlić hopes that changes to the FBiH Criminal Code will soon be in the Parliament session.

She reminded that the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Justice in June at the session of both commissions for gender equality explained the need to amend the Criminal Code in such a way as to abolish the possibility of replacing the prison sentence with a fine, but also to increase the maximum and minimum punishment for pedophilia.
