For more than four months, Russian forces have been trying to drive the Ukrainian army out of the Kursk region, whose units have been on the territory of the Russian Federation since August.

Russian military forces have suffered numerous losses in months of fighting. Ukrainian Army Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky stated that Russian losses in fighting with Ukrainian forces since August 2024 have risen to 38,000 soldiers killed.

“We will continue to destroy the invaders. It does not matter whether they have a Russian or North Korean passport. The battle continues,” Syrsky said.

According to Syrsky, Ukrainian forces destroyed more than 1,000 pieces of military equipment and equipment in operations in the Kursk region.
Additionally, through the operation in the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces liberated 189 Ukrainian prisoners of war.

According to Ukrainian sources, more than 700 Russian soldiers were captured in these battles, which were added to the Ukrainian exchange fund.

Since August 1, the Ukrainian army has been conducting operations in the Kursk region with the aim of drawing Russian forces away from the main fronts, which, according to Ukrainian sources, has tied up at least 40,000 soldiers from other fronts for these operations, Klix.ba writes.
