The second fair of science, innovation, creation, and robotics called “Maker Faire Sarajevo” was opened yesterday in the Youth Center and on the plateau of Skenderija, organized by the FabLab Association.

A laser cutter, 3D printers, a robotic arm, and other instruments are just some of the things science lovers will have the opportunity to see.

This year, more than a hundred exhibitors of technology enthusiasts, pioneers, innovators, startups, and innovative companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, and the Czech Republic are taking part.

The representative of the Fair, Nejra Ocuz, said that visitors have the opportunity during this weekend to see the latest technologies from the world of innovation and various robots and meet the most modern VR equipment.

She pointed out that through the fun side of science, there will be a series of interactive STEM workshops for the youngest and presentations of technological innovations from BiH and the region.

A special attraction is a mobile laboratory from the Czech Republic – Lab on Wheels, which contains a number of instruments and robots that will be the most interesting for the youngest audience. Such laboratories, she emphasized, are very rare, and this one is the largest of its kind in the world.

At the same time, she added, Maker Faire Sarajevo will also be opened in Vienna, and yesterday they celebrated the collaboration together with a direct video link.

Oruc said that the fair is a unique event with which they want to spread knowledge among young people in order to celebrate science and raise awareness of the importance of science and society.

The main sponsor of the event is the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to BiH and the Government of Germany, through the EU4Digital project, which aims to create a favorable digitization ecosystem through support for digital innovation hubs in BiH.

Also, the sponsors of the fair are the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, along with partners the City of Sarajevo and the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo.

Entrance to the fair is free.
