The constituent session of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament is scheduled for today, January 17, after the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced at the end of the year that the conditions for convening the session had been met since it confirmed the results of the intermediate elections and assigned mandates for this level of legislative power in the Federation of BiH.

Tomorrow, the delegates should assume their mandates and take the oath and appoint the leadership of the House, and according to the scheduled agenda of the constituent session, the election of temporary working bodies of the House of Peoples should follow, while one of the items on the agenda is the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The session was convened by the speaker of the previous convocation, Tomislav Martinović (HDZ).

According to the amendments of the existing constitutional and legal rules, which were imposed by the High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt, the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament has a total of 80 members instead of 58 as before.

It consists of the caucuses of the three constituent nations, whose current personnel capacity is 23 delegates each instead of 17, as before, and the caucus from the ranks of the Others, which now has 11 instead of seven delegates.

According to the Constitution, the competence of the House of Peoples is to nominate the president and vice-presidents of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this can be done by parties or coalitions that have a minimum of 11 delegates in the caucus. The President and Vice Presidents of the FBiH are then confirmed by the Government of the FBiH.
