Members of the Border Police Unit of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gradiška deprived a citizen of the Republic of Turkey of his freedom after he was prevented from smuggling 23 people of Afro-Asian origin.

Smuggling was discovered yesterday during the surveillance of the state border and control of a passenger motor vehicle Mercedes, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s plates, in the border zone in the area of ​​Gradiska. Foreign citizens did not have identification documents, and in the Questionnaires for Migrants they stated that they came from Syria (21) and Egypt (2), the Border Police of BiH announced.

The on-duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed about the above-mentioned event, according to whose order the evidentiary materials were temporarily confiscated.

The suspected Turkish citizen will be handed over to the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with the Report on the committed criminal offense of human smuggling.

In addition, on September 20, members of this unit prevented the smuggling of ten Syrian citizens, also in the border zone in the area of ​​Gradiška. A citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who smuggled migrants in a Mercedes vehicle, is connected with this smuggling. According to the order of the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a report on the crime of human smuggling will be submitted against the suspected driver.

Members of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs were also informed about these events, and they will continue further work on migrants, according to the statement.
