According to available data from the Prosecutor’s Office of Sarajevo Canton, in the past five years acting prosecutors filed 16 indictments for the criminal offense of rape, of those 16, two indictments were against minors, spokeswoman for that institution Azra Bavčić told Fena news agency.

“Four indictments were filed for sexual intercourse with a child, and 33 indictments were filed for the criminal offense of fornication in the past five years. There were 25 of them to the detriment of minors. One indictment was brought for the criminal offense of gratifying lust in front of a child or minor,” said Bavčić.

In the context of the case that upset BiH public, in which the actor Moamer Kasumović was sentenced to one year in prison for lewd acts against a minor, Bavčić says that, in accordance with the Law, the KS Prosecutor’s Office does not disclose detailed information about sexual offenses, especially those crimes committed against children or minors on protection and treatment of children and minors in criminal proceedings.

“Therefore, the Law on the Protection and Treatment of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings of the FBiH specifies that the course of proceedings in which children or minors are harmed is not published,” she concluded.
