EUFOR personnel joined children, young people and members of the local community in Brod for an organised Children’s Day, continuing the mission’s programme of direct engagement with communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event brought together personnel and capabilities from across EUFOR, including the Multinational Battalion, Medical Team, Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists, and the Liaison and Observation Team network.
Visitors had the opportunity to see EUFOR vehicles and specialist equipment, while personnel provided demonstrations and explained some of the capabilities maintained by the mission. EUFOR medical personnel conducted first-aid familiarisation activities, while EOD specialists provided a demonstration of their equipment and capabilities. Personnel from the Multinational Battalion also displayed vehicles and equipment used during their activities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EUFOR information stands provided children and other visitors with an opportunity to meet mission personnel directly, ask questions and learn more about Operation Althea. COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, also met representatives of the Municipality of Brod during the event, continuing EUFOR’s regular engagement with local authorities across the country.
Events such as Children’s Day provide an opportunity for EUFOR personnel to engage directly with younger members of the community in an informal and accessible environment. By combining practical demonstrations with direct interaction, EUFOR continues to strengthen mutual understanding and maintain a visible, credible and approachable presence throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
