The Storm caused Damage to Agricultures in BiH

A storm with gale-force winds and hail caused enormous damage to agricultural producers in Visoko. It is yet to be determined how many greenhouses were damaged, as well as the planting of various vegetables, which perished in the open space.

“After we determine the extent of the damage, the line ministry will provide part of the funds for farmers who suffered losses. Donji Mostra is the nucleus of greenhouse and vegetable production, and the storm hit that part yesterday,” says Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Vinko Marić.

Together with the mayor of Visoko, Mirzo Ganić, he visited the farmers who suffered the most damage. Only at Hamda Frljko, more than two tons of peppers – arrived for picking – were destroyed in a few minutes. At Hamda Neimarlija’s, who sells his goods at the Zenica market, the entire plantings of cabbage, peppers, cauliflower, Swiss chard and other agricultural crops were destroyed.

“We have already taken certain steps to repair the damage that occurred last night. We invite the citizens to report the losses, after which the commission will determine to what extent the natural disaster hit the producers, and after that, in cooperation with the canton, we will compensate the damage,” said the mayor of Visoko, Mirza Ganić.

The president of the Union of Crop Production Farmers, Vladimir Ferzanović, thanked Minister Vinko Marić for going out to the field affected by the storm.

“Minister Marić interrupted his vacation and came to visit us. It will be difficult to compensate for all the damage, but we hope that there will be concrete help, and not like three years ago when we received nothing from the ZDK Government,” said Ferzanović, the Press Service of the ZDK announced.
