The Story of how Sarajevan Ema Ruvic made her Dream come true

Four years ago, on June 15, 2014, the National football team of BiH played a historic match at the World Cup in Brazil.

Our Dragons had the honour to play against the former champion of the world, Argentina.

That match was played on the famous Maracana Stadium. Besides Edin Dzeko, Asmir Begovic and the only goal scorer Vedad Ibisevic, the duel at the legendary stadium will be remembered by one beautiful Sarajevan, Ema Ruvic.

A student of the Primary School “Isak Samokovlija” in Sarajevo, a fifth grade student then, was honoured to accompany our national representatives when they went out on the stadium.

“I had the honour of meeting Edin Dzeko. I was a bit nervous, but he relaxed me with his friendly attitude. He took my hand and went out to the stadium with me. I was very happy that I had the opportunity to watch the match between BiH and Argentina, and I can say that those were the most beautiful five minutes of my life,” said young Ema Ruvic, four years after the match in Rio de Janeiro, which presented our country on the World Cup in 2014.

Ema will graduate from the ninth grade in this Sarajevo school soon. Besides Dzeko, she also had the opportunity to meet the then selector Safet Susic and Vedad Ibisevic.

“I had the desire to bring luck to Dzeko so that he scores a goal for Dragons, but Ibisevic managed to do it. I am very happy when I think about it today,” said Ema Ruvic, who will continue his studies in the Second Gymnasium.
