Two lovers of cycling, Marija Arlovic and Moritz Meyer, set out on a 1,600-kilometer adventure by bicycle and drove from the north of Germany to Ostra Luka, the area of the town of Orasje, Marija’s birthplace.
They traveled for three full weeks and, with minor difficulties with means of transport, happily reached their destination. Marija has only been actively involved in cycling for a year, for recreational purposes, while Moritz has been a long-time lover of this sport.
Moritz traveled to Marija for five days from Aurich, from the north of Germany, covering 750 kilometers, and then they drove together from Heidelberg for 21 days to Ostra Luka. They prepared intensively for their greatest cycling adventure so that they could physically endure this demanding journey.
“On my part, it took maybe a couple of months, like in intervals, a little more training on the hills to prepare for this easier road, since we didn’t have many hills, and he was definitely already prepared because he has a little more experience in it (a few years),” Marija noted.
The big challenge for these young, nice people is that they are vegans, so they used to have only a bag of chips and a coke for lunch, but at no point did they think of giving up.
“The first day was pretty good 70 to 80 kilometers so we thought there wouldn’t be any problems, the second day was terrible as we had a few big hills so we only did 30km for the whole day that day and from day to day it it was getting easier and in the end we were passing for almost 100 kilometers,” explained Marija.
Moritz has been cycling all his life and has traveled many kilometers , and it is his way of relaxing and source of energy in stressful everyday life. This is his longest journey with 2,200 kilometers traveled and he does not hide the good impressions of the journey and arrival in Bosnia.
“It’s my first time in Bosnia and Croatia, but I feel at home, everyone is very warm, they welcomed and accepted me very nicely, and I’m looking forward to spending the next few weeks with my family and animals,” says Mayer.
They had the greatest support for their life challenge from their parents, but also from each other. They definitely won’t stop with this.
“My personal goal is to work on personal physical fitness, and the common goal is to explore Dalmatia, Italy, Spain and France because cycling is a very nice way of traveling because it enables you to see everything much better than traveling by other means,” explains Meyer.
Marija and Moritz will continue to enjoy the beauty of Posavina and create new cycling projects, Federalna reports.
