SDP, Narod i Pravda (NiP) – People and Justice, and Nasa stranka (Our Party) issued a statement condemning yesterday‘s public denial of the genocide in Srebrenica.
As they said in the press release, Milorad Dodik crossed the line of legal action with yesterday’s statement that genocide did not take place in Srebrenica for the first time after the amendments to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) came into force.
”We call on the competent authorities to strictly adhere to the law in this and all similar cases and to prosecute such acts without exception. The genocide in Srebrenica is a historical and legal fact, and its denial is an act of destabilization of the situation in BiH,” said the Trojka yesterday.
They called on Dodik to devote himself to solving the accumulated life issues of the residents of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, and not to complicate the work of his staff at the state level with his statements.
“The Trojka will not agree to the populist game of competition in quasi-patriotism, but we will also never remain silent on insulting the victims and denying legal facts. The state of BiHmust take care of the existential issues of its citizens, and that we all work together to ensure a better life for generations to come,” they added.
They emphasized that going back to the past through falsification and denial of historical facts is moving in the opposite direction.
“The Trojka does not want to sacrifice the Euro-Atlantic future of our citizens for the usual, futile daily political competitions in ‘defending’ their so-called enemies from imaginary enemies, but we will also not sacrifice the truth for any political position. If in the past the SNSD had the opportunity to cooperate with parties that were ready to trade legal facts and the truth about the Srebrenica genocide, the Trojka is not a partner that will agree to such a game,” they concluded in a statement.
To recall, yesterday, after a meeting with Dragan Covic, Dodik, commenting on the amendment to the law on the Memorial Center imposed by Christian Schmidt, denied the genocide in Srebrenica.
“There is no high representative, it’s all illegitimate and illegal. Genocide didn’t happen there, we all know that, but they keep trying to insist on it in a violent way. The descendants of those who committed the most terrible crimes here in the Second World War tell us something here. We will not publish that decision in the Official Gazette. That decision is a cover for the inaction and crime that happens there,” said Dodik, Klix.ba reports.
