The Tourist Choice: the Most Beautiful Parks and Walkways in Sarajevo

Many people will tell you that Sarajevo is most beautiful in spring – the trees are becoming fuller, blossoms are everywhere and the city is greening up.

There are many lovely parks where you can relax as you stroll around Sarajevo and Veliki Park is certainly the most prominent one. Located right in the heart of town across from BBI Center, it is a favorite place to meet and socialize.

There is also Atmejdan, a park on the left bank of the Miljacka River between Latin Bridge and Ćumurija Bridge. It was here that horses were once traded and in 1913 a music pavilion was built, which now houses a café – the perfect spot to make a break and refresh yourself.

We recommend a visit to Sarajevo’s most well-known walking area, Wilson’s Promenade, which is lined with linden trees that were planted at the beginning of the last century. The Promenade runs along the banks of the Miljacka River, from the Suada Dilberovič and Olga Sučić Bridge to the Electropriveda building.

You should end your search for Sarajevo’s green oases with a walk along Velika Aleja in Ilidža, with its impressive rows of plane and chestnut trees, which takes you to the lovely green wellspring – Vrelo Bosne – the source of the Bosna River. As the most popular spot for outings in Sarajevo, it is the perfect place to relax in nature.
