The United States does not want war with Russia, but will continue to send weapons to Ukraine, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said.
“We do not want war with Russia, that is not our intention, but we will absolutely continue to support Ukraine,” she told reporters.
She noted that Russia had informed the United States a little earlier about the launch of a ballistic missile into Ukraine.
“The United States was notified shortly before the launch through special channels,” she added.
President Vladimir Putin said tonight that Russia had fired a hypersonic version of a ballistic missile at the Yuzhmash plant in the Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk in response to Ukraine’s use of longer-range American and British missiles to strike Russian territory.
Putin stressed that Russia believes it has the right to target military facilities of countries that allow their weapons to be used against Russia.
